Tea party backlash: Protest signs to cheer you up

Tea party supporters and their favorites, including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), top right, and former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, bottom left, rallied to reopen war memorials temporarily shuttered due to the government shutdown on Sunday. They gathered at the World War II Memorial to "support" veterans, but they really seemed more inclined to protest President Obama, as though the shutdown were his fault. But the good news is... What’s the most appropriate way to respond to the tea party-affiliated House Republicans who caused the government shutdown, inflicted pain on innocent Americans and risked a “calamitous default” with a “deep disregard for the destructive consequences of their anti-government policies,” egged on by right-wing radicals Sen. Shut down Ted Cruz

Instead of protesting President Obama over the government shutdown that he did not cause, demonstrators in Dallas focused their anger on Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), the tea party firebrand who gummed up negotiations in Washington.
